ロックフォード市、シカゴの隣。

今はどこに住んでいる？
Where do you live now?
コロラド州のスチームボート・スプリングス。都会から離れてる田舎の町なんだけど、コロラドの２番目大きなスキー場だよ。
In Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It's an out of the way town with the second
biggest ski resort in Colorado.
スケート歴は何年？
How long have you been skating?
合計で９年かなぁ？中学の時に始めて、高３（４年高校で）まで滑ってた。そして大学に行って辞めた。（くそッ）卒業して来日してから、ビーチパティーでボロのＰｏｗｅｌｌデッキで滑ってたマットの姿を見て、その次の日にボードを買った。
Maybe 9 years. I started in Junior High and road until my Junior Year
in High School. Then I quit and went to college. After graduating and
moving to Japan, I was at this beach party and saw Matt skating an old
Powell deck. I went out the next day and bought a board.
どうしてスケートを始めたの？
Why did you start skating?
一緒に育てられたガキと俺はＢＭＸとフリースタイルをハマってた。みんなバイクを持ってて、ジャンプ台とかも作ってたんよ。しかし、やっぱ１３歳のお金ない俺にはバイクやバイクのアクセサリーを買うのは高かった。そしてある日、一人のダチがスケートボードを買って、遂にみんな買っとて、パーキング・ブロックでノーコンプライとかふざけたりしてた。
Some kids I grew up with were into BMX and bike freestyle. We all had
bikes and built jumps. But...we were only like 13 and it was pretty expensive
to buy new bikes and parts. One of us got a skateboard, and soon the rest
of us were all doing no-comply's over parking blocks.
得意技は何ですか？
What's your favorite trick?
ん･･･何だろう？360フリップとかノーズスライドかもしれん。長い手すりでノーズスライド決まったら最高の気分じゃない？！
Wow, I don't know. I guess I like 360flips and noseslides. That's the
best feeling, nosesliding a long handrail...
いつもご飯はどうしている？
What do you do for dinner all the time?
ハッハハハハ･･･ふざけんな！俺が料理できんってみんなはもう知っとるよ。（笑）前は最悪のナスとオイルソースのスパゲッティーを作ってて、「まぁ、悪くない」と思ってたけど、ある日友達に食べさせたら、彼女は吐きそうだった。（苦笑）今現在、外食はほとんどだ。
hahahahaha...screw you！ Everybody knows I can't cook. I used to cook this
TERRIBLE eggplant and oil sauce spaghetti and think to myself, "Damn,
that good." One day I let a friend try it and she almost puked. I try
to eat out a lot.

Who first sponsored you?
「モロトブ」って言う小業のスケート会社がスポンサーしてくれたけど、連絡を忘れたりして、結局はスケート辞めた。スポンサーされたってのはいい経験だったけど、されてからみんなに違う風に見られたってことに気づけた。それが辞めた理由だったんだろう？
I got sponsored by this little company called "Molotov", but I didn't
keep in touch and eventually just quit. Getting sponsored was cool, but
from then on all I seemed to notice was people acting wierd to me. Maybe
that's why I quit?
いつも遊んでいる所？
Where do you have fun at?
カバレー。（爆笑）ちゃうちゃうちゃう･･･今はッすねぇ、仕事を終えて滑るしかしてないんだ。それくらい。
The Strip Club. No, no, no, no...Now, all I do is get done with work and
go ride. That's about it.
夏休みどこへ行く？
Where are you going for "Summer Vacation"?
５月また日本へ行くと思う、一ヶ月くらい。その後はロスかもしれん。
In May I go to Japan for about a month. After that it looks like LA for
a while.

Do you understand "GIKOI"?

Who have you skated with that's crazy-good?
ガイ・マリアノって超ヤバイ。昔はローニー・バティーノが信じられないほどだった。今はデーブ・メーヒュウは技術的にも確定的にも誰よりうまいッす。
Guy Mariano is sick. Back in the day Ronnie Bertino was unbelievable.
Dave Mayhew is the most technical, consistent guy out there.
最近は誰と一緒にスケートしてるの？
Recently, who have you been skating with?
大体マットとだ。毎日スノーボードやっとるから、スケートするチャンスはよっぽど少ない。ちなみに、島根県加茂町にあるあのボロボロのスケートパークの連中とまた滑るのはマジで楽しみだ。雰囲気は本当に最高です。
Pretty much Matt. Because I'm boarding everyday I don't get an opportunity
to skate that often. I can't wait to get back to that dumpy skatepark
in Kamo, Shimane and skate with those guys again. It's a good atmosphere.
自分の誕生日にはいつも何をしているの？
What do you do for your birthday?

Where did you live in Japan?
超田舎･･･島根県。益田市は二年で赤来町は一年だった。
BFE. I lived in Shimane-ken...Masuda for two years and Akagi for one.
どんな所だった？
What kind of place was that?
最初は都会じゃないってことでムカついたけど、住んでみるとこれが本物のジャパンということに気づいた。おそらく、赤来の住宅の後ろにあった庭が俺にとっては日本中の一番気に入ってる場所だった。鳥の鳴き声しか聞きこえんかた･･･あッ、それと近所のオヤジのセキとかも聞こえた･･･
At first I was pissed because it wasn't urban, but then I realized that
the "real" Japan is right there. Probably my favorite place in Japan was
sitting in the backyard of my house in Akagi. You couldn't hear anything
except birds and the old man coughing next door.
出雲弁の一言を教えてちょー！
Teach us a little bit of Izumo dialect!
なんなんよ？！出雲弁って「汚れとる」。じゃ…「チョンボシ」とは？少しって言う意味だ。
What?! That dialect is stained! How about "chomboshi" - that means "a
little".
最近ハマってる事は？
What have you been into lately?
読むこととラッパ我リヤ。そして…ちょっと恥ずかしいけどぉ、滑る時は浜崎あゆみを絶対聞くこと。
Reading and Rappagariya. And, although it's a little embarassing, I always
listen to Ayu when I ride.

最近、相当に本を呼んだり、HP更新したりしてる。それにほとんど毎日スノボーするのは決まってる。もしかして、料理教室に入ったほうがいいかもなッ！？（爆笑）
Lately, I've been reading a lot and working on this website. I snowboard
almost everyday. Maybe I should take some cooking classes?!
最近キレた事は？
What's pissed you off recently?
ルームメート達は掃除してねぇことだ！でも、数日前ジェフがフーバーしてたよね。そして、マットは一回ごみ捨てしてくれたけど、大体俺は掃除ばぁちゃんって存在してる。（苦笑）
My roomates NEVER clean. OK, Jeff did vacuum the other day and Matt took
out the trash ONCE, but basically I'm the cleaning lady.
自分に影響を与えたスケーターは誰？
What skater has influenced you?
エリック･コストンかも。流れがスムーズだからな。それに島根県江津市の二人の田中とアザンボウって奴ら。スケートがうまくて、おまけに超ナイスガイだった。
Probably Eric Koston, because he's smooth. There were these two guys in
Gotsu, Shimane: Tanaka and Azanboh. They were great skaters and more importantly
really nice guys.

真面目な就職活動をさせなかった親達に感謝。そして、今のアパートを安く貸してくれた家主にもサンキュー。最後に、最近再会させてもらった神様にも最大の感謝と光栄を･･･
I'd like to thank my parents for not pressuring me to get a "real job",
my landlady for cutting us a good deal, and most of all God who I've just
recently gotten to know again.
